Our trade compliance and trade remedies group boasts a deep bench of 10 partners and nearly 30 lawyers, one of the largest practices in this area. Our lawyers are well versed in trade laws of different countries and equipped with extensive practical experience. Several partners worked for government agencies, including the Ministry of Commerce, before joining Zhong Lun and have over 20 years’ experience of related work. Most of our lawyers also have a respectable background of international legal education.

Our group has advised Chinese and overseas businesses, industrial associations, and government agencies on anti-dumping, anti-subsidy, safeguard measure investigations, WTO dispute settlement, trade compliance, import and export control, economic transactions, and national security review, among other things, and helped our clients respond to cross-border government investigations, get removed from blacklists, and build compliance systems. We count among our clients many leading market players in related sectors. Our work highlights include numerous trade remedy cases initiated by major countries and regions worldwide, inter alia, the U.S., EU, Japan, Australia, ASEAN countries, and South American countries, against Chinese enterprises and trade remedy investigations conducted by China against foreign businesses. These work highlights confirm a notable level of expertise, as we have attained a large number of outcomes favorable to our clients, such as zero tax dumping/countervailing duty rate,  or low duty tax rate, or no measures imposed. We also keep an excellent record in responding to U.S. trade sanctions, dealing with import and export control measures of China and other countries, filing for national security review, and building compliance systems for our clients. Our performance has been highly recognized and ranked in the first tier by professional rating agencies for many years in a row, including Chambers Asia-Pacific and The Legal 500 Asia Pacific.
